APC chieftain decamps to PDP in Gombe

AS politicking for the 2019 general elections hots up, a former governorship candidate of the defunct Change for Progressives Congress (CPC) in the 2011 elections who is a chieftain of ruling the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State, Abubakar Aliyu has dumped the party and pitched his political tent with the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Abubakar Aliyu disclosed the decision to leave the APC  while speaking with Journalists on Saturday in Gombe stating that he took the decision to quit the party to save his political career which could be jeopardized by remaining within the ranks of the APC because according to him the party was being insensitive to the plight of the people.

The politician who was the leader of the Adalchi Advocacy group of the APC  in Gombe State was accompanied by thousands of his supporters from all the 11 local government areas in the state to the PDP Secretariat where he formally decamped.

He described his defection to Peoples Democratic Party as the best decision he has taken in his life as well as the removal of the cobweb that has hitherto covered his eyes for so many years in the APC.

Abubakar Aliyu also said that the APC led federal administration has failed Nigerians declaring that “the party has no human face, adding there are hardships across the land and people are killed on daily basis in the country”.

He added that “APC failed Nigerians by not fulfilling its campaign pledges in the areas of economic diversification, human capacity development, values and ethics, the art governance, financial probity, anti-corruption war, unemployment and security have not been properly addressed”.

He then urged all lovers of democracy in the state and the country at large to decamp to the Peoples Democratic Party, saying that Gombe state has always remained with the PDP since the return to democracy in 1999.

It would be recalled that on the 17th August 2018 Gombe State House of Assembly APC member and  Minority Leader, Ahmed Usman Haruna, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party

Ahmed Haruna revealed that it was necessary for him to leave APC for the PDP because the party had failed to meet the aspirations and yearnings of the people.
