Alhaji Musa Garba, a prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Jigawa, has cautioned People’s Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to cease criticising President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement released on Monday, Garba emphasised that Atiku’s criticism would not yield political gains and instead portrayed him as desperate.
Garba defended the practice of addressing Tinubu as “Daddy” or “Baba,” citing cultural and religious significance.
He referenced similar instances, including former President Muhammad Buhari being called “Baba Buhari” and former Kano Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje being addressed as “Baba Ganduje”.
Garba advocated for constructive criticism, encouraging Atiku to recognise Tinubu’s achievements and contribute to Nigeria’s development.
He further stressed the importance of politicians prioritising Nigeria’s progress over personal agendas, stating, “We should shun political vendetta and participate in nation-building.”
