APC can’t instigate crisis in Rivers for its profit — PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has reiterated its stance that the All Progressives Congress (APC) cannot instigate a crisis in Rivers State and then profit from it through the declaration of a state of emergency.

The national spokesman of the main opposition party, Debo Ologunagba, stated this in response to the call by the state chapter of the APC for the federal government to declare a state of emergency in Rivers State.

The caretaker chairman of the Rivers State APC, Tony Okocha, made the call on Wednesday, alleging that the state is at war.

“Rivers State is at war. And the dramatis personae who are responsible for the mayhem that has claimed lives are known.

“The Governor is helpless, the police are helpless. Therefore, the APC in Rivers State is calling for a state of emergency in Rivers State as a way of taming the mayhem, the upsurge that is going on in the state. I call on the federal government to act fast in this regard,” he said.

But speaking to the Nigerian Tribune on the phone, the PDP national publicity secretary warned the APC to refrain from its shenanigans.

“The APC cannot go and collect or take over the government of Rivers State through the back door. They cannot orchestrate violence or crisis in the mold of that,” he stated.
