The candidate from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Kamilu Sa’id has been declared the winner of the Kaura Namoda South by-elections for the Zamfara State House of Assembly.

This announcement was made by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

The declaration was made on Thursday night by the INEC returning officer, Professor Lawal Sa’ad, following the collation of results from the re-run election that took place in five polling units within the Kyambarawa and Saikajiki wards of Kaura Namoda South.

The INEC returning officer for the by-elections, announced that Sa’id of the APC received 8,182 votes, while the candidate from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 5,543 votes during the polls.

“Having satisfied the INEC requirements and scoring the highest votes, Kamilu Sa’id of APC was declared the winner and returned elected,” he declared.

Meanwhile, the Zamfara state APC, in a statement issued by the publicity secretary Malam Yusuf Idris, commended and congratulated the people of Kaura Namoda South, in particular and members of the party in the state, over the party’s victory in the just concluded rerun bye-election of State House of Assembly.

Idris said the victory was a demonstration of true commitment and believes that the APC remains the party to beat in the state.

“Despite the alleged efforts of the ruling PDP in the state to manipulate the polls through the use of thugs, ‘yan sakai and indeed armed bandits, they lost to APC’s popularity,” he said.
