Anyone one found culpable of misappropriation will be dealt with, says Abiodun

The Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has vowed that his administration would not hesitate to hold anyone found guilty of misappropriating public funds in the state accountable.

Abiodun said this in his inaugural speech shortly after he and his deputy, Engr (Mrs) Noimot Salako-Oyedele were sworn-in by the Chief Judge of the State, Justice Mosunmola Dipeolu, at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Kuto, Abeokuta, on Wednesday.

He took the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance at exactly 11.50a.m.

The ceremony was attended by past governors of the state, Chief Olusegun Osoba and Chief Gbenga Daniel; the Awujale and Paramount of Ijebuland, Oba Kayode Adetona; the Akarigbo and Paramount of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi; governorship candidates of the African Democratic Congress, Prince Gboyega Isiaka; Social Democratic Party, Prince Rotimi Paseda; Alliance for New Nigeria, Mr. Damola Ogunbanjo and Prince Buruji Kashamu of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Others were captains of industry; religious leaders; party stalwarts and other stakeholders who thronged the venue of the ceremony to be part of history.

The governor explained that Assets and Projects Assessment Committee would be set up to assess all on-going projects in the state to know the current status, percentage of completion, project costs, the amount disbursed, and expected dates of completion.

He posited that the step was not in any way to witch-hunt the administration or any individual, but to establish a baseline and determine priorities.

“It is important to emphasise that this exercise is neither a witch hunt nor targeted at any administration or individual, rather it is to establish a baseline and determine priorities.

“This administration is focused on the present that positively impacts our people and a future that is even brighter.

“Nonetheless, as the Trustee of the people, the administration will also not hesitate to review any suspected misuse of the commonwealth and hold accountable any individual or organisation found culpable.

“Let me reiterate for the umpteenth time, that all on-going projects in the state will be completed by my administration, based on the benefits to the people, priorities and available funds,” he added.
