Chairman House Committee on Power and Member representing Birnin Kudu Buji constituency, Magaji Da”u Aliyu, and executive members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were attacked by aggrieved members of the party in the constituency.

The incident happened on Thursday afternoon when Aliyu and some party officials visited Buji local government area for a political rally.

The aggrieved constituents suspected to be youths blocked the road, burnt tyres, mounted roadblocks in Kukuma town and prevented the lawmaker, party executive members and supporters over alleged poor representation at the National Assembly.

An eyewitness who preferred anonymity told our reporter that hundreds of aggrieved members wielded cutlasses, sticks and other weapons.

The situation has led to a direct confrontation between the aggrieved members and supporters in the entourage of the lawmaker. In the ensuing melee, billboards and other structures that carried political symbols in the area were burnt down.

When contacted on the incident, legislative aide to the lawmaker, Murtala Isa, denied that the incident was not an attack on the lawmaker’s convoy, insisting that it was a minor disagreement among the party members.
