Okoh, however, noted that the existence of various one-man churches would not help the repositioning.
Delivering a keynote address at the 60th anniversary of Immanuel College of Theology (ICT), Samonda, Ibadan, Primate Okoh said theological education needed to first recover its power of conviction.
Okoh, who spoke on the theme, The Place of Theological Education in Repositioning the Church and the Nation, added that the conviction power of theological education should be taken ‘whole’ beyond the walls of colleges to churches and homes.
He also charged the Christian population to put the findings into practice in both private and public life.
The primate, who is an old student of ICT, also noted that necessary parameters should be put in place to enable the church to ascertain those who offered themselves wholeheartedly for ministerial training before being recommended to theological colleges.
In his sermon, the Prelate, Methodist Church Nigeria, Most Reverend Dr Uche, said Immanuel College, where clerics were bred, should not be contaminated.
“Men and women of honour must work there. If you see any gay or cultist among the students of the college, sack them; they will misrepresent us. We must be people of honour,” he stated.
Prelate Uche also commended the Dean of the College, Very Reverend Dr W.A.O. Egbetakin, for the tremendous transformation he brought to the college.
