Anglican Bishop asks leaders to preach Godly principles

Published by

The Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos, (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. Humphrey Olumakaiye has urged religious leaders to preach Godly principles as their contribution toward tackling the root of corruption in the country.

He gave the advice on preaching Godly principles on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Prelate, Methodist Church of Nigeria, Dr Samuel Uche, in his office, in Lagos.

He also called on the leaders to teach and preach honest living, adding that wealth acquired without labour was not only deceitful but also a call to corruption.

“I believe our focus should be in sanitising the whole environment by fighting corruption to a standstill and there is need to come together as one body to fight corruption.

“We know that together, we will be able to defeat this cancer destroying every fabric of our nation and also in recommitting, rededicating ourselves to prayers for the country,’’ he said.

He also urged religious leaders to focus more on improving the spirituality, educational and health standard of the people.

“We believe that as a Diocese, the Anglican, the Methodist, through our renowned ministry, synergising in health and education can take the country to another level.

“This is the time churches should come out and defend their faith that is being bastardised by all forms of teaching that we have in the country today because the gospel has been diluted,” he said.
