Amidst frequent outrages, anguish, and climate of violence across the country, Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, has shared his thoughts on the need to positively channel energies into national development and participation in the democratic process.
The Presidential aide said while it is normal to get angry, it is not a strategy.
Akande disclosed this on his verified Instagram page (@laoluakande4real) yesterday when he said “Anger has its place but it is not by itself a strategy for national development…”
Quoting Ecclesiastes 7:9 which says “Do not be hasten in your spirit to be angry, For anger rests in the bosom of fools”, he says there are better and more productive ways to influence the political process and national development than resorting to the negative energy of anger.
He noted that we must find a “way to move quickly from anger to desired goals.”
In several other posts on his Instagram page titled THE VALUE OF PURPOSE, Akande noted that if people commit to public engagement and regular communications, more results can be achieved. He said “We are committed to it and we will reach understanding on the major issues, one by one in this country and by this administration.” With regular communication and engagement, Akande said “things will get better in NIGERIA, otherwise we won’t have gotten here. There is a purpose.”
Using the award-winning Nigerian-American kickboxer, Kamaru Usman, whose exploits in his profession is well-acclaimed across the globe as a good example for Nigerians, he says “It’s the amount of force and enthusiasm that we bring to our assignment in life that matters. The force consists of hardwork, grit & gifts and talents bothering on competence and capacity.” He said if young people in Nigeria can translate their “positive attitude, responses, energy and integrity” into national issues, the country will be better for it.
Akande’s IG page has over 216 pictures and videos relating to the activities of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN. His page also has nuggets, inspirational, and spiritual quotes aimed at inspiring Nigerians.
