The Ogun State House of Assembly has invited additional stakeholders linked to the Federal Government’s Anchor Borrowers Programme following ongoing allegations of unauthorised deductions from the personal accounts of subscribers to the scheme.
The new invitees include the former National President of the Nigeria Cassava Growers’ Association, Mr Segun Adewunmi, and the Ogun State chapter chairman, Prince Akinbode Adeleye. Also summoned are officials from the Nigeria Agriculture Mechanization and Equipment Leasing Company, representatives of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), and Wema Bank officials.
Chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture, Hon Waliu Owode, extended the invitation while presiding over a follow-up session with Wema Bank officials and representatives of affected subscribers at the Assembly Complex in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

During the session, Owode, alongside other lawmakers, directed Wema Bank to immediately halt all debits from the accounts of individuals identified as victims. The Committee also summoned officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture and the former Programme Manager of the State Agricultural Development Programme (OGADEP), Pastor Taiwo Ayansanwo, to appear at the next hearing.
Wema Bank was further instructed to provide comprehensive details of all accounts previously credited under the programme, all correspondences from commodity growers, and a list of service providers connected to the scheme. The documents are to be submitted ahead of the next hearing scheduled for Thursday, 17th April 2025.
Owode stated that the Assembly’s actions are aimed at uncovering the financial transactions behind the alleged deductions and ensuring that affected subscribers recover their funds.
