The Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board said that it is training its Quality Assurance Officers on ways to improve learning and to meet up with international best practices.
Director of Quality Assurance, Anambra State Universal Basic Education, Mrs Ogochukwu Obi, stated this in Awka, the Anambra state capital, on Monday, at the opening of a five-day training on Capacity Building Of Quality Assurance Officers For Sustainable Education Development.
She said hundred Quality Assurance officers are participating in the training.
Tribune Online gathered that the training was organized by Universal Basic Education Commission Abuja in conjunction with the State Universal Basic Education Board for all Quality Assurance Officers in the 21 Local Government Universal Basic Education Authorities in the state.
She noted that though effective, Quality Assurance exercise in the state has always been carried out using a paper instrument.
She explained that the office, under her watch is ready to follow the trend by introducing e-quality assurance facilities to replace the archaic method of monitoring, evaluation and data collection in public schools.
Mrs Obi expressed optimism that after the 5-day training, officers will be acquainted with the use of E-Quality assurance facilities for effective performance.
“This 5-days training is meant to train Quality Assurance Officers, as vanguards of the new approach to quality assurance practices in basic education in Anambra State, she added.
“We will adequately equip them with the required knowledge and skills needed on the new strategies at all the local government levels in the State,” Obi assured.
According to her, It is expected that through this intervention, quality learning outcomes in Anambra Primary and secondary public schools will be achieved.
She commended the state governor, Willie Obiano, and the Abuja head office of the Universal Basic Education Commission for their immense support towards quality education at the grassroots.
In their separate remarks, the Senior Assurance Officer of the Universal Basic Education Commission Abuja, Mr Vincent Agwusoro and Mrs Lilian Anyadubelu, Secretary, Anambra State Universal Basic Education Board, says the training seeks to develop new quality assurance strategies and procedures to improve the quality of learning in Basic schools across Schools in Anambra State.
They added that the training was in response to the need to strengthen the capacity of quality assurance officers, especially at the local government levels.
