Anambra speaker empowers constituents with 600 bags of fertilizers, 55 motorcycles, others

The Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt Honourable Uche Victor Okafor has empowered his people in Ayamelum State Constituency with 600 bags of fertilizers, 11 Toyota salon vehicles, 55 motorcycles, and 33 sewing machines, among others.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that the empowerment gesture was an annual event as a representative in the state, to give back to the people through the state established Constituency Projects Fund.

The event which took place at Ifite-Ogwari Primary School field, in Ayamelum local government area of the state, on Sunday, has in attendance, member representing Anambra East and West Federal Constituency, at the National Assembly Hon. Chinedu Obidigwe, 2023 APGA aspirant for Ogbaru Federal Constituency, Hon. Chris Onyekachukwu Nwokedi, House of Assembly members, President-General of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, ASATU Chief Titus Akpudo, among other supporters.

Addressing the people, the Speaker, said the continue empowerment programme, which has benefitted thousands of constituents, cut across political party lines in the area.

Okafor, noted that the annual programme was in fulfillment of his personal vow to God to give back to society and carry everyone along in his life and success.

The All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) lawmaker explain that the items were bought with the state Constituencies Project Fund. And that the empowerment programme has been on since he was elected in 2015, as the lawmaker representing the Constituency.

Hon. Okafor, who is seeking re-election in next year’s 2023 general elections for the third term, charged the beneficiaries to be magnanimous. He assured those who did not receive any item during the ceremony that would benefit in due course.

He use the occasion as well, to celebrate his 45th birthday.

The state governor, Chukwuma Soludo, who also witnessed the programme, commended the Speaker’s large heart, describing him as an embodiment of what a representative should be.

He urged continued support for the lawmaker, APGA and their good works to ensure the state remains a shinning example for others nationwide.

He assured the locals that work will soon commence on the Omor-Awba-Ofemmili road.

According to the Governor, the road is important as it will link Awka with Ayamelum local government area which is a major food basket on the State.

Soludo, use the event to called on Nigeria Lawmakers to developed interest in using made- in Nigeria products to empowered their constituents.
