Anambra South: Uba’s dynasty shattered, says Amachree, YPP chairman

National chairman of the Young People’s Party (YPP),  Emmanuel  Amachree, has expressed satisfaction over Tuesday judgment of the Court of Appeal in Enugu which upheld the victory of his party candidate in the last February national assembly election in Anambra south senatorial district, Senator Ifeanyi Ubah.
The appellate court dismissed the petition filed by Chief Chris Uba of PDP and Senator Andy Uba.
Speaking with newsmen in Abuja,  Amachree said the victory of Senator Ubah has shattered what he described as the dynasty of the Uba brothers in Anambra south.
He said:”Before now, people believe that the Uba brothers are the only people that could win election in the Anambra South senatorial district. The dynasty has been shattered. The Uba brothers are no where to be found. If they are very popular Ifeanyi Ubah wouldn’t have enjoyed the landslide victory with over 37, 000 votes ahead of them . How can you challenge such victory?  Their mentality of being the owner of the game has been demystified. They used to see it as their birthright but they have been proven wrong.”
The YPP chairman further noted that the victory of his party candidate confirmed by the judiciary has reinforced his conviction that individuals, not big parties win elections
” A precedent has been set with the electoral and judicial victory recorded by our party. We should be departing from the mentality of the big wig parties especially the APC and the PDP. It doesn’t matter the party you belong to,  you will win if your people want you. This is a victory of the people.  A dynasty has been shattered in the Anambra Senatorial District. We started from the grassroots and the Appeal Court confirmed it. Nobody can take this victory from us because we went to the election with the best material and our people, the electorate, confirm this at the poll.”
In his remarks,  Senator Ubah said  the pronouncement of the Court of Appeal was a relief for his people who were apprehensive that their mandate was about to be stolen by a particular they did not vote for.
“This is a victory for the entire people of the Anambra South senatorial district , my state and the nation in general. I thank my party for standing for me and giving me the necessary support.
It was a contest and I know my input in the state. I believe it is a case of no Victor, No Vanquish. I don’t think  I should be talking of retiring anybody. The most important thing is that I have a strong edge over them in Anambra South senatorial district. I want them to join me so that we would collectively give value to our people. We are in politics to give value to our people. So, I’m extending my hands of fellowship to them.
“My party is behind me and I’m going nowhere. It is going to be a wonderful thing for Nigeria. I have tasted other parties . I’m in YPP,  that is where we would take off from.”
