Governor Charles Soludo’s efforts to enhance safety in Anambra have resulted in the state being recognised as one of the Southeast states with the lowest crime rates in Nigeria in 2024.
This information comes from the recent Crime Experience and Security Perception Survey (CESPS) conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).
In a statement released by Christian Aburime, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, it was highlighted that Soludo’s administration has shown a strong commitment to addressing security challenges in Anambra.
This includes consistent support for law enforcement agencies, improved logistics, adequate funding, and dedicated efforts to implement the state’s new security network.
As part of these initiatives, the state plans to launch a comprehensive security operation next year, named ‘Operation UDO GA-ACHI,’ which translates to ‘Operation Peace Shall Reign.’

This program will feature 163 vehicles to aid security operations. The goal is to empower law enforcement to effectively combat crime and ensure that Anambra remains safe.
Additionally, the government has implemented measures such as a two-month amnesty period for criminals to surrender for rehabilitation, or face significant consequences.
The statement noted that Governor Soludo’s administration inherited a severely insecure environment, where unknown gunmen acted with impunity, engaging in robbery, murder, and terrorizing the populace.
However, with the cooperation of state security agencies, these challenges have been met with decisive action, paving the way for peace.
Looking ahead, the statement emphasized the importance of a unified approach to security, combining government efforts with citizen cooperation.
This includes regular intelligence sharing between communities and law enforcement, constructive dialogue between critics and officials, heightened community-level security awareness and vigilance, as well as minimizing the politicization of security issues.
