Anambra police command restates ban on indiscriminate use of siren, covering of plate numbers

THE Anambra State Police Command has reiterated its stance on the ban of the incessant and indiscriminate use of siren and covering of number plates.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar gave the warning while briefing the press at the command headquarters, Amawbia.

The Commissioner of Police warned that only authorized individuals and organizations on essential duties such as the Governor, banks, ambulance, fire service can use the siren.

He, however, cautioned that if such bodies use sirens indiscriminately, the police will catch and prosecute them
appropriately.

Mr Umar stated that aside from the authorized group, anyone caught violating such laws will be arrested and dealt with decisively.

The CP also disclosed that sequel to the recent directive of the Inspector General of Police, on withdrawal of all Police personnel attached to VIPs, Government Officials, Political office holders,Corporate Organizations, Multi National Companies, the enforcement of the withdrawal will commence from the 20th of next month and called for all new applications for the services of Police Mobile Men, Special Protection Unit, Counter Terrorism Squad and Conventional Police, to be processed and submitted to the Office of the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Police Command Headquarters, Awka, who will forward all applications to the Inspector General of Police for approval.

He, however, noted that it is only the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris that can grant such requests.

He urged all unit Commanders of various formations in the Command to ensure strict compliance with the directive.
