Massacre of innocent worshippers at St. Philip's church, Ozubulu, Anambra
The International Peace Commission, Nigeria have called on the Nigerian Government to investigate and prosecute those found guilty of perpetrating the recent massacre at St Philip Catholic Church, Ozubulu.
In a statement issued by the Commission, the National President/Head of Mission (Nigeria), Amb. Obiora Odumah, commiserated with the families of the deceased and the Anambra State Government.
According to the statement “the International Peace Commission (IPC), Nigeria received with great shock and uttermost dismay, the news of the gruesome murder of innocent Nigerian worshippers at St. Phillips Catholic Church, Ozubulu, Anambra State on Sunday the 6th of August 2006.
“IPC Nigeria, an International NGO with affiliation to the United Nations is committed to the wellbeing and peaceful co-existence of all Nigerians, condemns in the strongest terms, the terrible incident, as it is against the ideals of the Commission.”
“IPC Nigeria wishes to extend its heartfelt and deepest condolences to the victims, their families, the Nigerian Catholic Church, and the good people and Government of Anambra State.”
“United by our unwavering commitment and shared aspiration of the peaceful coexistence of all peoples, the IPC in this trying times, stands with the people of Anambra State in our shared quest to restore peace to Anambra State, especially in the face of the coming gubernatorial elections, for which many pundits are already predicting doom.”
“The IPC therefore joins all well-meaning Nigerians in calling for the thorough investigation of the incident and the prosecution of everybody found culpable, to the full extent of the law.”
