Anambra: I’ve recruited over 8,000 teachers in three years — Soludo

The Anambra State Governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, said he has recruited over eight thousand teachers in just three years of his administration.

Soludo stated this during his live broadcast at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, on Monday as part of activities marking his third year in office.

He said the recruitment of over eight thousand teachers within this period is aimed at ensuring basic education for every citizen of Anambra State.

“My administration is taking a different approach to illuminate the transformation of the education sector. In my vision for the state, it is clear that I am ready to rescue the sector from the suffocating chokehold of infrastructural decay, poor-quality teaching and learning, and limited access for the citizenry. I aim to position the state as a hub for market-driven education and an edutourism destination.

“This remarkable feat is not just about numbers but about the real-life experiences of Ndi Anambra. Since September 2023, students in public schools have been enjoying free education.

“For their parents, this means that a significant financial burden has been lifted. It also ensures that children who would have otherwise been denied quality education can now receive it at no cost. Additionally, it reduces the number of out-of-school children in the state, which, in the long run, will help curb crime and insecurity.

“The future of our education is here, and my administration is driving the innovation.”

The governor also expressed confidence that he will be re-elected in the November 8, 2025, governorship election, citing the development strides he is currently implementing across the 179 communities that make up the state.
