Anambra guber: How re-election of Obiano will sustain zoning formula ―Victor Umeh

WITH the three candidates of the major contending parties coming from Anambra North Senatorial District, the Chairman, Governor Willie Obiano Campaign Organization, Chief Victor Umeh, says it has become very clear that the major parties in the November eighteen gubernatorial race, the PDP and APC have respected the zoning arrangement among the three Senatorial districts in the State.

Chief Umeh, a former National Chairman of all Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, was speaking during a press briefing with journalists at the Governor Obiano’s Campaign Secretariat, Awka, adding that the Governorship zoning formular was made by the leadership of the State Ohaneze Ndigbo and was endorsed by the State Elders Advisory Council with the sole aim that the North Senatorial district should be allowed to complete its eight years before it moves to the South Senatorial District.

He maintained that they have seen the two candidates of the other two major rival parties, noting that they have no cause to entertain fear, pointing out that the State is firmly in the grip of APGA which he said, was committed to promoting mutual understanding in the State.

Chief Umeh maintained that Governor Obiano has done well and there was no reason he should not go for the second tenure adding that should any of the two contending candidates win the election which he doubted, he would want to stay in office as Governor for eight years which according to him, would not augur well with the South and Central Senatorial districts.

The Secretary of the organization, Mr Primus Odili, warned the people, especially the youth to steer clear from all forms of nefarious acts that would ignite declaration of State of emergency in the State.

Mr Odili, who is also the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Special Duties, said that APGA is adequately prepared for the November eighteen polls as the only party in the State with an organized structure at the grassroots, affirming that Governor Obiano as a wonder maker has achieved a lot for the state within three years and some months in office, especially in the areas of health, education and human capital development.

Also, an APGA Chieftain, in Nimo, Chief Chris Igu, noted that Governor Obiano led administration has to no equal in Nigeria today and called for his return to the polls to enable him to complete the good work he has started.
