Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Afam Obidike has disclosed that the state government in partnership with the Global Fund are to build an oxygen plant at Onitsha General Hospital.
Dr Obidike made this known after an inspection of the hospital, on Wednesday.
Speaking after the inspection, the Commissioner, said that health is very critical to the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration and that the visit was to enable him see what is on ground in the hospital and the deficiencies, with a view to solving them, as has been directed by the governor.
He revealed that the oxygen plant which will be a massive one, is expected to serve Onitsha and its environs, and that it is expectedly to be completed within ninety days, all geared towards giving Onitsha residents affordable, effective and efficient healthcare service delivery that would be comparable with what obtained in the developed countries of the world.
The Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr. Mercy Ebelechukwu-Anugwu who thanked the Commissioner for the visit, expressed joy that a new oxygen plant is about to be cited in the hospital, noting that the oxygen plant will help them to save more lives and render top-notch healthcare services to their patients.
