The Anambra State government has confirmed the release of the State Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon Patrick Aghamba, and his wife, who were kidnapped last Friday.
They regained their freedom after spending a day in captivity.
Christian Aburime, the press secretary to Governor Charles Soludo, stated that Aghamba and his wife were released on Saturday night.
He also confirmed that no ransom was paid for their release.
Aburime stated that the release was achieved through divine intervention, noting, “The commissioner and his wife have been released by the special grace of God. We were able to secure his release.” He reiterated that no ransom was paid.
Tribune Online had earlier reported that Aghamba and his wife were abducted while traveling to Abuja to attend Governor Soludo’s daughter’s wedding. His aide, ABK Offiah, who was traveling with them, was shot dead by the gunmen.
