Anambra: Foundation donates 1,000 bags of rice, 200 wrappers to Police

Sir Emeka Offor Foundation, has donated 1,000 bags of rice, and 200 wrappers to the Nigeria Police Force, Anambra State Command.

The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, described the donation as one the biggest gifts ever by a private sector operator to the police at present in Nigeria.

He said the items will be shared equally among members of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) in the state.

The CP lauded the foundation for the rare gesture and expressed the Command’s appreciation to the business mogul for his untiring support, adding that the items would assist the police in combating the current economic hardship in the country.

He said the World needed people like Sir Emeka Offor, the Founder of the Foundation to grow the Nigerian economy and also provide jobs for the teaming youth.

Speaking during the formal handover of the items, Sir Offor, explained that the gesture was informed by the fact that security was essential to economic development.

According to him, the donation was part of his contribution to ease the police wives especially, the widows among them of the current economic hardship confronting the country at the moment.

He noted that the gesture which would be made annually was also part of activities to mark his 65th birthday.

Offor who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company EEDC, used the occasion to commend the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adeoye, for ensuring a peaceful almophere before, during and after the 2023 Christmas and New year celebration and for curtailing the activities of the unknown gunmen cultism, kidnapping, drug abuses and other crime in the state.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the event which took place at the State Police Command Headquarters Amawbia, on Saturday, has in attendance the Foundation delegation led by the State Coordinator, Hon. Obi, the State Police Command’s Management team led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-chatge of Operations, Mr Ibrahim Ezekiel and the media.
