Anambra communities to receive World Bank agency intervention fund

The Anambra State Community and Social Development Agency will commence disbursement of the World bank Agency intervention fund to ten Communities across six Local Government Areas of the state for the execution of micro-projects as contained in the World Bank approved Community Development Plans, next week.

The General Manager of the Agency, in the state, Mr. Chudi Mojekwu, announced this yesterday, during a two- day training for Community Project Management Committee members from ten Communities across six local government areas.

The training, aimed at providing the participants with requisite knowledge and skills needed for the implementation of Community Development Plans, took place in Awka, with twenty delegates from each of the ten communities in attendance.

While calling on more communities within the benefiting Local Government areas to key into the programme and beef-up their infrastructure, Mr Mojekwu assured their readiness towards supporting them with funding and technical assistance.

Delivering a lecture titled “Financial Management”, the Financial Manager, Anambra State Community, and Social Development Agency, Mr Francis Madubuonu said before disbursement of funds, there must be a duly signed funding agreement between the agency and the benefiting communities.

In a remark, the Community Project Management Committee chairman for Ifitedunu, Dunukofia Local Government Area, Sir Pius Anigbogu, who expressed joy over the inclusion of their communities, promised total adherence to lay down rules and regulations guiding the project.

For some of the participants, including Mr Uchenna Afubera from Amiyi-Ogbaru Local Government Area and Mrs Ann Okonkwor from Uke in Idemili North Local Government Area, listed their micro-projects to include, water borehole, health centres, secondary school, and access roads among others.
