Anambra Awards: NUJ Chairman, Odogwu, appointed media director

The Anambra State Chapter Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Dr Odogwu Emeka Odogwu has been appointed as the director of media for the Anambra Man of the Year Awards (AMTY Awards).

The appointment was contained in a statement signed and made available to Journalists in Awka, on Monday, by the AMTY award convener, Chinedu Okafor.

According to Okafor, Odogwu known for his extensive experience and contributions to the field of journalism, is set to bring his expertise and passion to this prestigious role.

“Odogwu, a native of Amanuke Community, in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, holds a PhD in Mass Communications from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra State.

“His career in the media industry spanned working as a reporter, correspondent, and editor for various media houses. Odogwu has held the position of Editor of South-East/South-South Oracle Today Newspapers, Editor at The Authority Newspapers in Abuja, and Regional Editor, South-East at The Leadership and Vanguard Newspapers.

“He has also contributed to national dailies and online media with over 5,000 articles, features, and opinions.

“Dr. Odogwu’s achievements extend beyond the field of journalism. He has authored two novels, ‘My Father, My Hero’ and ‘Dangerous Adventure’, as well as a drama series titled ‘Amanuke’. He has participated in numerous media and leadership workshops and has been involved in various organizations and associations in the media circle.

“His dedication and commitment to his work have earned him commendation letters and awards, including an Appreciation Letter from the Community Secondary School, Mgbakwu, for outstanding services to the students, commendation from Authority Newspapers as the best in contributions to the new establishment among others.

“As the newly appointed Director of Media for the prestigious Anambra Man of the Year Awards,(AMTY Awards), Dr. Odogwu is expected to bring his wealth of experience, professionalism, and passion for journalism to showcase the achievements and contributions of outstanding individuals in Anambra State. His appointment is a testament to his exceptional skills and his significant impact on the field of media and journalism.

“Through his role as Director of Media, Dr. Odogwu is set to continue his mission of mentoring and impacting the lives of young journalists and authors. His dedication to the field and his commitment to youth empowerment makes him a truly phenomenal individual,” the statement concluded.
