THE Anambra State House of Assembly on Thursday passed a budget estimate of N157.1bn for the 2019 fiscal year.
This came within one week after the state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano presented the budget before the House for consideration.
Governor Obiano had in the budget, tagged, “Budget for Sustained Growth and Youth Empowerment,” told the lawmakers on December 6, 2018, that the sum of N91.8bn had been earmarked for capital expenditure while N65.33bn would cover recurrent expenditure.
During the consideration of the bill at plenary, the lawmakers unanimously agreed to the said N91.8bn for capital expenditure and N65.33bn for recurrent expenditure respectively.

The Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation Hon. Obinna Chris Emeneka representing Anambra East State Constituency, explained during the clause-by-clause consideration, that the budget reflected the aspirations of the people.
Emeneka noted also that the 2019 budget was designed to consolidate and complete all ongoing projects in the state.
After amending the proposal, the House passed it, while the Speaker, Hon. Mrs Rita Maduagwu, directed that clean copies of the document be sent to the state governor for his assent.
