Anambra 2021: Obaseki, Makinde, Ikpeazu, others launch PDP membership e-registration

Ahead of the November 6, 2021 governorship election in Anambra State, the People Democratic Party (PDP), on Tuesday, launched the E-registration and Continues Voters Registration (CVR) of its members in the state.

Performing the launching ceremony, held at Oma Event Centre, Awka, the Chairman of the Launching Committee and governor of Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki said the exercise would re-strategise the party to a global standard.

According to him, “Anambra is the first state, we are commencing the e- registration to test our strength in the forthcoming November 6th, 2021 governorship election”.

He stressed that the registration exercise was important for the party to help to prevent other political parties from rigging the Anambra guber election and that of the 2023 general election respectively.

Obaseki noted that the party’s target in the November 6, election is over 250, 000 in addition to the register of 100 members per ward across the 326 words in 21 local government areas in the state to win the election.

The Edo State governor maintained that PDP remained the only democratically party to save the current security, leadership and socio-economic challenges confronting the country.

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on his part, assured that the political mechanism used in defeating the All Progressive Congress (APC), in the 2019 general election in Oyo state, would be deployed to ensure PDP emerged victorious in Anambra State.

He promised Anambra PDP that he would relocate to the state to ensure victory for Valentine Ozigbo.

Abia State governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, who also spoke on the occasion, said the exercise was a demonstration that PDP was ready to take over governance from the state ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) led by Governor Willie Obiano.

In their separate speeches, Mr Peter Obi, Senator Uche Ekwunife and the party candidate for the election, Mr Valentine Ozigbo, while thanking the governors, vowed that they would do everything politically possible to win the November 6, 2021 governorship election in the state.
