Ambode’s supporters march through Lagos

Published by

TEEMING supporters of Lagos State governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode, on Sunday poured on the streets to demonstrate their support and demanded that the scheduled governorship primary of All Progressives Congress (APC) holding on Monday be made free and fair to allow the people’s will triumph.

This was just as the supporters under the aegis of Ambode Mandate Support Group (AMSG), through a petition, which they resolved to forward to the National Chairman of APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhle, demanded that the state exco of the party headed by Alhaji Tunde Balogun be disqualified from conducting the Monday governorship primary.

Addressing the rally, which took off from Maryland to the Freedom Park in Ojota, where Humble Smith and Fuji star, Akande Obesere were on hand to entertain, Director General of AMSG, Abdul-Akeem Omoyele Sulaimon, said the demand was being made because Balogun and members of his exco had committed faux paux by showing bias in favour of Mr Babajide Olusola Sanwoolu, another aspirant in the governorship race.

According to Sulaimon, Alhaji Balogun and members of the team were seated at a stakeholders parley which took place on Saturday at APC secretariat on ACME Road where a key member of Governor Advisory Council (GAC), Senator Tony Adefuye, openly announced that GAC had adopted Sanwoolu as its candidate.

While frowning at the fact that the party chairman had shown himself to be biased in an exercise he was supposed to be impartial, the AMSG director general said Adefuye’s position was not recognised by the APC constitution.

“Our petition is that we have lost confidence in the state chairman of our party, we are appealing that you give his exco the same treatment you gave to the Adamawa exco so that they are allowed to supervise the primary because we change in Lagos,” he said.
