Ambode, let LAGKEB rice get to everyone

Published by

There is no doubt that the pronouncement that the sale of LAKGEB (Lagos/Kebbi) rice in Lagos State has been fixed at N13,000 per 50 kg bag will no doubt be received with joy by Lagosians and the public at large.

However, the expression of doubt on the use of local government councils as the channel for the distribution of the product has already become a source of worry to the people who have remained skeptical that the good intention of the state governor, Akinwumi Ambode, may be thwarted by corruption-ridden official bureaucracy.

At the end of the day, this will make it difficult for the people to get the rice at the government-approved price. The expression of the possibility of hoarding of the commodity is another area which the governor should look into. As a way out, it is being popularly suggested that the state government should also consider distribution outlets such as big supermarkets, departmental stores and open markets scattered all over the state.

To this end, it is hoped that Governor Ambode will put in place, structures to allay the fears of the people.
