The State Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr Abdul-Hakeem Abdul-Lateef, said this when he received the delegation of the Council of Arewa Chiefs led by Alhaji Sani Kabiru (Chairman of the Council and Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos State), in his office, on behalf of Governor Ambode.
Members of the delegation include Alhaji Yakubu Abdullahi, the Daniya of Lagos State; Alhaji Musa Abdullahi Ringim, Sarkin Hausawa of Ikeja; Alhaji Adamu Mavy, Sarkin Hausawa of Ajeromi Ifelodun; Alhaji Mahmud Yahya, Chiroma of Shuwa Arab of Lagos State; Hajia Aishat Shamaki Sarauniya Mata of Lagos, the Queen of non-indigenes of Lagos State; and Ahmed Danbatta, Secretary-General, Lagos State Council of Arewa Chiefs.
This was just as the commissioner assured the delegation that Governor Ambode’s administration would not deviate from it’s of “policy of inclusive governance.”
He further assured the delegation that the governor would continue to implement programmes and policies which would accelerate the growth of infrastructural and economic development of the state, promote unity among all groups and increase the living standards of all citizens, tribes and groups.
While imploring the delegation to always mobilize and rally their constituencies in support and identification of Ambode’s policies and programme, the commissioner enjoined them to always encourage members to continue to be law-abiding and responsible citizens of Lagos.

According to him, this is needed to sustain the atmosphere of concord and continuous growth of Lagos State, declaring that, “Government is about you and your contributions.”
In his own address, leader of the delegation, Alhaji Kabiru, said people of Arewa in Lagos considered the state as their home and would always support and identify with all efforts for the promotion of economic and social growth, and better social cohesion, peace and unity.
While requesting for more integration in policies of the state and enhanced involvement in the activities of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Kabiru expressed the readiness of the body to collaborate with the state government in such programmes as the Annual Ramadan Lecture.
In her contribution, Hajia Shamaki expressed gratitude to the state government for the hospitable atmosphere which had been fostering friendship and unity among the diverse groups in Lagos.
She pledged a fresh alliance of the Arewa Council with Lagos State government as their female members would be actively mobilized and carried along in the scheme of things.
