Amanda Obidike shortlisted for Women Awards for her work in STEM

The founder of STEMi Makers of Africa, Amanda Obidike, has been shortlisted for the Women of Inspiration Awards for empowering thousands of young girls in Nigeria and Africa with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.

The Women of Inspiration Awards are organised and awarded by The Universal Womens Network Inc, an international and inclusive network of purpose-driven female CEOs, business leaders, and change-makers from diverse industries who lead, inspire and motivate.

The founder and CEO of Universal Womens Network, Monica Kretschmer, while congratulating Obidike for making the finalist list, stated that she looked forward to celebrating Obidike’s feat with her family, friends, colleagues, and companies.

“Every woman has a story. Your story does not define you, it empowers you,” Kretschmer said. “This is also an opportunity for your company to champion women and recognise your accomplishments as a visible SupportHER for women in business.”

Out of the 16 award categories, Obidike was shortlisted for two – the Global Impact Award, and the Trailblazer (STEM) Award.

Obidike said she was honoured with the shortlist as a woman who inspires change and hope for the next generation of women to come.

“Receiving recognition like this means that the world sees the work we do and value our contributions,” she added. “I am thankful to my team, mentors and partners who take a chance with STEMi Makers of Africa on a daily basis.”

The organisation said it will be sharing its top finalists publicly in September while winners will be announced in November.

Since 2015, the Universal Womens Network has celebrated over 1,000 women with nominations across North America reaching 7,000 entrepreneurs and professionals with over two million impressions.
