Amaechi in Lagos, meets Ambode behind closed-door, shuns press

MINISTER of Transport, Mr Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday had a closed-door meeting with Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, on issue believed to centre on the gridlock affecting Apapa ports in the state, among others.

The meeting took place at the State House, Alausa, Ikeja, lasting for about one hour, at the end of which the minister declined to interact with journalists based, according to him, of fear of being misquoted.

Amaechi, who drove himself in a black Lexus Jeep, with registration no: Lagos GGE 315 DN, arrived the venue at about 10.59am and went straight into the meeting with the governor.

The minister, dressed in a white Niger Delta attire, emerged from the meeting at about 11.57am into the waiting hands of Government House Correspondents, who had arrived the State House hours earlier.

When asked for an interview based on his visit, the minister, accompanied by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr Tunji Bello and other state officials, declined as he headed towards the jeep that he drove into the venue, saying he was not ready to be misquoted again.

“I will not speak, so that you will not misquote me again,” the minister said.
