Mr and Mrs Alaba Adeyemi, the parents of the late Miss Adeyemi Omowunola Jadesola, an old student of Bodija International Schools, Bodija, Ibadan, Oyo State, have donated a smart interactive board to her alma mater to further boost learning in the school, in compliance with the 21st-century teaching and learning standard.
At the official launch and presentation of the e-learning classroom held recently in the school, Dr. Jordan Femi Fagite, who represented the family at the occasion, declared that the family of the late Omowunola Jadesola felt the need to support the education and learning advancement process of their late daughter’s secondary school with the provision of an interactive digital classroom given the excellent academic and character-based moral education the school impacted on their daughter.
He noted that the Adeyemi family collaborated with Orange Smart Academy to establish an interactive smart academy in Bodija International Schools, the first of its kind in Oyo State.
According to him, the Smart Card Academy classroom is named after Adeyemi Omowunola Jadesola Onikepo in memory of her demise. He said that the initiative has been welcomed across various schools in Nigeria and in Africa at large.
Speaking in the same vein, Orange Smart Academy officer Mr Ladipo Oke confirmed that the deployment of Smart Academy, an interactive digital classroom designed to deliver a robust learning outcome using the best technology for learners to harness their potential capacity to compete in a dynamic and changing world, is fundamental in the 21st century.
According to him, the technology had been in the Nigerian school system for decades, and not less than five thousand secondary schools and about 48 leading tertiary institutions in the country had subscribed to the system.
“Orange Smart Academy is a specially designed centre that integrates learning aid resources to focus on two core subjects: mathematics and English. We have found out that the failure rate in mathematics across the secondary schools in the country is on the increase.
The development informed the academy to introduce this special technology to address the learning challenges.
The success story emerged with the development of the Orange Smart Academy, which has integrated stimulating content that can help a child who does not understand the knowledge of mathematics transition into understanding the principles behind the subject.
This is the first one in Oyo State. We intend to establish 100 centres in the state. We started in Ondo State. All things being equal, Orange Smart Academy will be established in every state in the country,” he said.
The principal of the school, Mr. Dairo Franklyn, confirmed the relevance of the interactive board in this 21st-century education system.
According to him, the system would speed up the teaching and learning process in the college, and it would improve the quality of education being offered there.
Similarly, Director of Schools, ARC. Olumide Eso thanked the family of the late Jadesola Adeyemi for the donation of the interactive board, the first of its kind in Oyo State Secondary secondary school. He noted that the donation would be indelible in the school and would go a long way in the educational uplift of the schools.
