Allowances, promotion will be given to the wounded soldiers ―GOC

HOPES of soldiers wounded by Boko Haram were lifted by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army, Major General Mohammed Mohammed on Monday when he assured them that their entitlements, allowances, a medical trip abroad would be taken given urgent consideration.

Findings revealed that the soldiers were recuperating at the 44 Army Reference Hospital, Kaduna.

During the visit, the GOC told the wounded soldiers that his visit was part of activities marking the annual West African Social Activities (WASA) organized by the Nigeria Army and its formation to mark the end of a successful year and usher in a new one.

He assured the wounded soldiers who have varying degrees of injuries of the commitment of the Nigerian Army to their plights and pains.

“We are aware of your pains and am here on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai to let you know that you are not forgotten.

“I want to assure you that we are interfacing with the doctors and caregivers to ensure that you get the best treatment and whatever will give you quick recovery.

“For those of you requiring evacuation abroad, I have asked the Chief Medical Director to furnish me with such details for onward communication to the COAS for immediate action.

“We will also extend to you some of the goodies during the WASA, just be reminded that the COAS is very passionate about your health and well being and will stop at nothing to do the needful for your health”.

Earlier, the Chief Medical Director, Brigadier General Nathan Okeji who conducted the GOC round the various wards, assured that the hospital will continue to do her best in attending to the wounded soldiers with the best of treatment.

Meanwhile, some of the soldiers had complained of promotions, adequate funds particularly for those of them who require evacuation abroad.
