Alleviate hardship caused by subsidy removal, cleric urges political leaders

The General Overseer of the Great Tabernacle Miracle Church of God (Mountain of Change), Ido Osun, Osun State, Prophet Adeniran Adeyemi, at the weekend, charged political leaders to listen to the cries of the masses by ensuring that measures to cushion the effect of hardship emanating from the removal of subsidy are urgently addressed.

The cleric, who made the charge at the church auditorium during the celebration of the 11th anniversary of the church, however, prophesied that 2025 will be a year of tremendous change for the people of Nigeria.

He further pleaded with Nigerians to pray for their leaders to be able to steer the ship of the country to the promised land and assured Nigerians to expect “miracles” from God.

According to him, “Nigerians are blessed, and God has harkened to their prayers and supplications; hence, there is a need for all and sundry to anticipate a positive turnaround and development of the country.”

“The church has been an instrument for change and development in Nigeria, and leaders across all walks of life should be selfless in their actions and deeds.”

Speaking in the same vein at the event, a frontline traditional ruler, Owamiran of Esa-oke, Oba Adediran Adeyemi, noted that Nigerian leaders have not been reaching out to people at the grassroots; hence, it has created a serious communication vacuum that ordinarily should not have been.

The royal father argued that leadership is about taking care of those in the local communities, wondering why most Nigerian leaders have continued to fail in this direction.

“Our leaders must reach out to those in the grassroots for effective and fast development of local communities. Development should be taken to the people in rural communities, and as such, politicians should always interface with their people for the sake of development.”

Commenting on the role of religious leaders and churches towards the development of the nation, the traditional ruler remarked that despite all odds, the church has been responsive to assisting many helpless Nigerians, especially during this economic hardship faced by the citizens.

“I believe the church is playing a significant role in assisting its members and also praying for the nation’s growth and development.”

The traditional ruler, who does not blame youths who are moving out of the country for greener pastures, hinted that many small and medium business enterprises have continued to collapse due to economic hardship.

“Those who ‘japa’ out of the country are doing so because of the economic problems confronting the nation. If care is not taken, any business you engage in will suffer a setback because of the ugly nation’s economic woes at the moment.

“I am appealing to our leaders to do something fast that can fasten the development of the country by taking development to the grassroots,” he submitted.
