A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) in Ondo State, Hon. Femi Adekanmbi has risen in the defence of the Minister Designate, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji- Ojo over allegations that the former lawmaker forged his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate.
Olubunmi Tunji- Ojo who represented Akoko Northeast/Northwest federal constituency between 2019 and 2023 is one of ministerial nominees transmitted by President Bola Tinubu to the National Assembly for confirmation .
In a statement by Adekanmbi, who was a former Commissioner in Ondo State described the allegation against the ministerial nominee as ludicrous, unreasonable and farcical.
According to Adekanmbi ” Bunmi Tunji Ojo was duly screened by the Department of State Services ( DSS) and all his credentials were found deserving and credible.
“The minister designate deferred his service in 2006 as a result of the accident that almost claimed his life”
“He then approached the National Youth Service Corps ( NYSC), who expressly approved the deferment of his service year ”
“The National Assembly were duly informed in 2019 before he proceed with his service”
“I saw the documents myself and I implore the Senate to ignore any petition in respect of the NYSC certificate, by confirming him expeditiously. A click on the portal of NYSC will help solve the puzzle”
Adekanmbi chastised the media hirelings, stating that before announcing the name of anyone as President, they must have carried out due diligence on the person. The list must have been sent to the DSS and EFCC for scrutiny.
“In the case of Folakemi Adeosun vs Attorney General of the Federation ” the court held that she did not need the National Youth Service Scheme (NYSC) discharge certificate to take up any ministerial appointment or before standing for any elective office in the country”
