Alleged palliative diversion: Gov Yusuf’s CoS sues EFCC, others

The Chief of Staff to Kano State governor, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, has filed a lawsuit against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the state Commissioner of Police, seeking protection of his rights in relation to allegations of palliative diversion made against him by the APC.

Recall that APC Youth Group Chairman, Mujahid Zaitawa, had previously reported the case to the EFCC, seeking the prosecution of the Chief of Staff.

In reaction, the State High Court, led by Justice Aisha Ya’u, issued a restraining order preventing the EFCC, its agents and other security agencies from arresting or prosecuting the Chief of Staff related to the palliative diversion claims.

The restraining order, granted after reviewing a motion ex-parte and accompanying affidavit, bars the EFCC and Police from taking any action against the Chief of Staff until the motion on notice is heard on September 3, 2024.

The case was filed by DY Gambo, counsel for the Chief of Staff, aiming to safeguard his client’s rights.

The allegations involve claims that the Chief of Staff diverted palliative rice provided by the Federal Government. However, Barrister Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, Chairman of the State Anti-Graft Commission, has cleared him of any wrongdoing, stating that the food items were intended for his Orphans Islammiyya School.
