Alleged N20bn fraud: Our books are open, NNPCL tells Reps

Published by

Following an allegation on Payment of N20 billion to ghost consultants, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) said it was not against plans by the House of Representatives to investigate the claim.

The company, according to a report, was alleged to have paid N20 billion to ghost consultants an allegation it denied saying it does not have any deal with such persons.

It said the process of engaging consultants whenever the need arises is clear and verifiable and follows global best practices.

In view of this, the Company in a statement issued by its Spokesperson, Garba Deen Muhammad at the weekend said it was ready for investigations into the allegation.

The company, said under the current Board and Management, it has instituted a culture of transparency that includes making its annual Audited Financial Statements (AFS) public.

“The NNPC Ltd has received with great relief, the resolution of the House of Representatives to investigate allegations of the payment of a huge sum of twenty billion naira to so-called “ghost consultants.”)

“NNPC Ltd had earlier refuted this false and baseless allegation that was first published by an online platform without any iota of evidence.

“It is in this light that the NNPC Ltd welcomes the resolution of the House of Representatives to investigate this very outrageous allegation,” it said.

It expressed confidence that the outcome of any investigation into the false allegation will vindicate the company, and put an end to all speculations.
