Alleged impersonation: VeryDarkMan to appear in Court today

VeryDarkMan, whose real name is Martins Otse, is set to appear in court today over allegations of impersonating a police officer.

This comes after a viral video showed him wearing a Nigeria Police Force uniform without authorization.

In the now viral-video, he even referred to himself as CSP VeryDarkMan and Nigeria’s “number one online police officer,” which didn’t sit well with the authorities.

The Nigeria Police Force, in its post on Friday, made it clear that they’re taking this case seriously, with the FCT Police Command leading the prosecution.

“In response to recent developments, VDM, whose real name is Mr. Martins Otse, is set to appear in court today following allegations of impersonation related to the unauthorized use of Nigeria Police Force uniforms in a viral social media video.

“The FCT Police Command is actively handling the case, underscoring the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to upholding the integrity of its symbols and preventing their misuse. Interested persons are encouraged to follow up on the proceedings as the case unfolds,” the post read.

Similarly, VeryDarkMan’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed that his client was detained by police on Thursday after responding to an official summons.

Interestingly, Adeyanju noted that VeryDarkMan had honoured a similar invitation the previous day without issue.

His post read, “Our client, VDM, has been detained after honouring a police invitation just like yesterday. VDM has been consistent in stating that the Nigerian Police are our friends, even when we all know they are not.”
