Alleged illegal PVCs possession: Drama in Osun court as PDP stalwart slumped during arraignment

THERE was mild drama in Osun Magistrate Court, sitting in Osogbo on Wednesday morning when a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Alhaji Fatai Oyedele, popularly known as Diekola slumped while being docked for alleged illegal possession of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

The development which caused a stir in the courtroom compelled the presiding Chief Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara to forcibly adjourned the matter to 23rd of November for hearing.

Oyedele, who looked frailed with intravenous injection needle fixed on his right wrist was saved by counsel and other persons within the court as he went down on the floor.

He was brought to the court, alongside two other suspects identified as Sikiru Lawal and Adekunle Segun on electoral offences bothering on illegal possession of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), having been arrested around Ward 5, Unit 17 around Adewale Street, Alekuwodo area by security agents few days before the conduct of September 27 rerun governorship poll in Osun.

Both the prosecution counsel, Barrister Felix Okocha and the Defence counsel Bukola Onifade agreed to come back to the court on the 23rd of November for the pleas of the three accused persons to be taken.

Chief Magistrate Ayilara said “It is very obvious that one of the accused persons fainted in court and his plea cannot be taken, the matter has been adjourned to November 23rd for his pleas to be taken.

Oyedele was subsequently assisted out of the courtroom by some people and his counsel.
