Alleged fraud: Court tells Uwajeh to appear in court or face warrant of arrest

JUSTICE John Tsoho of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday ordered that the self-acclaimed private investigator, Chief Victor Uwajeh appear before the court on February 13, 2018, to take his plea on charges bordering on forgery, impersonation and fraud levelled against him or face a warrant of arrest against him.

The federal government had filed charges against the embattled Uwajeh for allegedly trying to obtain money through fraudulent means against Senator Andy Uba, representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the Senate.

The court had earlier fixed yesterday for Uwajeh take his plea, but when the case was called, he was absent in court.

Uwajeh had dragged Senator Andy Uba, to court over alleged refusal to pay him the sum of £1.9 million debt.

Following Police thorough investigation, based on the petition Senator Uba wrote to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, the Police investigations indicted him (Uwajeh).

Also in the suit, the plaintiff accused Senator Uba of being an impostor in relation to his academic credentials which the Police investigation revealed that the information he provided was fraudulently obtained.

According to Uwajeh, in the suit, Senator Uba engaged his services for an assignment in the United Kingdom (UK) Border Agency and in the United States of America (USA).

The Plaintiff said in order to make the work easier for him, Senator Uba gave him the data pages of both his American passport and his Nigerian passport.

At the last proceedings before the federal government filed charges before a High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, the trial Judge, Justice Sylvester Oriji said that the matter could not proceed as the plaintiff’s counsel asked the court to adjourn the matter to enable all the parties settled out of court which senator Uba insisted that he is not disposed to the arrangement urging the court to do the needful.

The judge further adjourned the suit at the instance of the Plaintiff (Uwajeh) for the outcome of the out-of-court settlement and report back to the court.
