Alleged anti-party activities: NNPP to probe suspended chieftains in five states

New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), on Wednesday, said it has set in motion the process of probing some members of executive committees in five states who have been accused of engaging in various alleged anti-party activities.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Chief Ladipo Johnson, made this known in a release, copy of which was made available to newsmen, saying that NNPP took the decision sequel to recent dissolution of the chapters of the party in Taraba, Benue, Oyo, Bauchi, and Gombe, respectively.

It be recalled that the affected state committees had been dissolved in the first week of September with the leadership of the NNPP citing the need to reposition the fold, among other reasons.

According to the party chieftain, the decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the National Working Committee (NWC,) held in Abuja on Tuesday, describing it as a normal step in a dynamic political party poised to make necessary changes for development and achievement of its goals.

“The decision to probe some of the erstwhile executive committee members and some other members of the party was a normal step in a dynamic political party that is poised to make necessary changes for development and achievement of its goals,” he said.

Johnson, while listing those affected state exco members suspended for three months to include Mrs. Ayobami Idowu Adekunle, Alhaji Rasheed Adebisi Olopoeniyan, Mr. Demola Oke, Mr. Kilamuwaiye Badmus, Mr. Oyesola Ololade, Mr Olayiwola Musibau, Mr. Tunde Adedapo, and Ms Riike Olaniran, said the issues for their suspension were generally tied to anti-party activities, noting that no serious leadership would condone such an attitude as alleged to have been perpetrated by the affected party chieftains.

“The issues (for their suspension) are generally tied to offences against the party and anti-party activities.

“Of course, no serious leadership would condone such an attitude as alleged to have been perpetrated by these suspended members of the party.

“All those affected have been informed of the decision and will be expected to appear before the party’s National Disciplinary Committee,” the party spokesperson stated.
