All FCT area councils will feel impact of Tinubu’s govt — Wike

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike has assured Abuja residents, particularly those in the six area councils, that every area council will feel the impact of  President Bola Tinubu’s government.

Wike gave this assurance while flagging off the 15 km Pai-Gomani road, but blasted the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) leadership for playing pranks by awarding Pai-Gonani in front, leaving Gwagwalada-Pai road which is 18 km in front of the one flagged off today.

The minister assured that in Tinubu’s government, everybody will be allowed to participate and benefit from governance.

He said: “Tinubu’s government will allow everybody to participate and benefit from governance. All area councils must feel the impact of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.”

Wike said he is committed to the provision of infrastructure because that is what he was appointed for, not to sign lands and that is what he is doing.

“Tinubu did not make me minister to come and sign lands, but to provide infrastructure, that is what I am doing, be it in the city or in the rural areas,” he added.

Wike also assured the contractor that their money was intact. Wike appealed to the contractor to reduce the delivery period of 12 months as their money is available.

The 15km drive to the venue of the flag off offered the Minister the opportunity to see fast fertile farm lands.

Hhe said, “Why should Nigeria complain of food? Look at land in Kwali. When this road is done, good will be easily transported to the city centre. This road is very important, no matter how far it is, I will find time to be visiting and supervise.”

Wike lambasting the Director, STDD and Director of Engineering for leaving behind the Gwagwalada-Pai section of the road and went 18km in to award the 15km Pai-Gomani road.

Wike scolded the duo, at the inauguration of the construction of 15.5-kilometre Pai-Gomani Road in Kwali Area Council of FCT, on Tuesday.

Wike explained that the duo awarded the contract for the construction of a road connecting Pai and Gomani, while the road from the Abuja – Lokoja Expressway (A2) to Pai was not awarded.

The minister, who asked the duo to come out and face the people, said: “This is why it is difficult for this country to move forward.

“While we were coming from the expressway, called A2 to Pai, they refused to award that contract but instead awarded the contract from Pai to Gomani.

“Now, if you construct the road from Pia to Gomani, how do you come to Pai, when that road is not motorable?

“Whoever masterminded this; you are not being fair, and we cannot continue this way. The truth must be told at all times,” he said.
