Akeredolu
THE Senator representing Ondo Central Senatorial District in National Assembly, Chief Tayo Alasoadura has urged the people of his Iju/Itaogbolu country home to vote en mass for the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the November 26 governorship election in Ondo State, Mr Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
He said his victory would help to reduce the financial burden in which the irregular payment of monthly salary of civil servants by the outgoing administration in the state.
Speaking on Monday evening when the campaign train of Akeredolu stormed his country home, Alasoadura, who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream), told the crowd at the rally that his people were angry because they were not getting a fair deal.
The former state Commissioner for Finance stated that the little he got from the National Assembly on behalf of his people could not circulate unlike before because those who had already been empowered through gainful employment, had joined the list of those looking for financial assistant due to the failure of the state administration to pay their salaries regularly.
Addressing his people, Alasoadura said: “Today, many of you are not happy with me because what I give out has drastically reduced. Please bear with me, it is not my fault. Mimiko was responsible because he failed to pay salaries.
“Most requests for assistance that I receive from people daily now comes from Civil Servants who ordinarily could have let me be if Mimiko was not owing them salary. Ondo State has no reason whatsoever to be owing salary.
“I want to appeal to you to vote for Akeredolu in order to ease the burden Mimiko has placed on me. Akeredolu will pay your salary as of when due. He will abolish capital flight and cosmetic governance in Ondo State. With Akeredolu as you governor, you will not go to bed with an empty stomach” the politician said.
The Senator also took a swipe at the governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, AD, Barrister Olusola Oke, declaring that the former National Adviser of the PDP should not have expected APC members to allow him eat from where he did not sow, alleging that Oke wouldn’t have joined APC if Jonathan had won the 2015 Presidential election.
Alasoadura warned his people against entrusting their sovereignty into the hands of those whom he averred has no “structure, father, mother, brother, sister and siblings in government” to govern Ondo State”.
He said it would be counter productive if Ondo people abandon PDP for AD who currently controls no ward anywhere in Nigeria.
Alasoadura described AD members and supporters in Ondo State as a “group of desperadoes wallowing in the euphoria of cluelessness and emptiness but want to govern Ondo state at all cost in order to grow their clandestine business empire.”
Akeredolu who also spoke at the event urged the people of the town to put credibility, character and integrity above money bags on the Election Day. He promised to tar Akure-Iju-Itaogbolu road if elected and provide pipe borne water for the people of the town.
