THE Alapa kingdom is one of the kingdoms in Awori part of Yoruba land which actually has its extraction from the southwest and the neighbouring nations.
It is also coastal town with a boundary between Nigeria and Benin Republic. The kingdom records early touch of the colonial masters with several institutions of government sited in Apa, but the role played by Badagry during the slave trade period shows that Apa is relegated into community under Badagry.

The ancient community came alive on Saturday, January 26, 2019 as people from all over the world to celebrate with Alapa of Apa Kingdom, Oba Oyekan Adekanmi Ilufemiloye Ajose Possi 111. The event which was attended by traditional rulers from Lagos, Osun, Ogun, Kwara, Ekiti, Badagry and Oyo State who showcase the cultural heritage and traditional attributes of Yoruba land, especially the Awori tribes.
The traditional tribes represented by various indigenous groups captured the audience with gun salute, cultural attires, cultural dance and made the event memorable.
Oba Oyekan Adekanmi Ilufemiloye Ajose, Possi 111 the Alapa of Apa Kingdom, in his speech appreciated His Excellency, all the royal fathers, distinguished guests, sons and daughters of Apa Kingdom present at the occasion.
He appealed to the Lagos State government to release the acquired plots belonging to Apa Kingdom for the needed infrastructural and physical development of Apa Kingdom. He said Apa Kingdom had suffered enough and for that reason, the Lagos State government should compassionate on them.
“Apa Kingdom has not made any significant progress in the areas of infrastructural development, our towns and villages are not supplied with potable water, roads, electricity and has no access to other basic amenities and services,“ said Oba OIlufemiloye in his speech at his fifth coronation anniversary celebration on Saturday, January 4, 2014but all these, according to him, can change if the Lagos State government accede to their request.

He said if there is access to their land, private investors who have interest in the development of Apa Kingdom can be invited for the needed infrastructural and physical development .
He said further that regardless of these enormous challenges with the acquisition of the landed properties of Apa Kingdom, which limited the developmental process of the kingdom modest achievements have been made.
He listed some of these achievements to include the construction of a police post, construction of a one-storey building at L.A. Primary School, Apa, rehabilitation of Apa Health Centre with solar light and the construction of five bedrooms at the health centre for the doctors and other ancillary staff by him and Dr. Senu Oke, construction of a standard public health centre, supply of basic drugs and other medical requirements, medical equipment, provision of basic infrastructure for hospitals and clinics such as water, electricity and communication.
Oba Ilufemiloye appealed to the Lagos State government to recommence the construction of the Lagos Badagry Expressway. Also he requested for a water works or the micro water scheme to be expanded to serve the now enlarged population of Apa Kingdom. He also appealed for the reactivation of the construction of the Alapa mini stadium by the Lagos State government. He ended his speech by appreciating Governor Akinwumi Ambode, HRM Alayeluwa Oba Riliwan Babatunde, Oba of Lagos, chairman of the occasion, and Lagos State deputy governor, Mrs Oluranti Adebule, and all other important personnel.
