Al-Habibiyah charges Muslims on cooperation

AL-HABIBIYAH Islamic Society of Nigeria (AIS) has called Muslims to deepen their cooperation and be strategic in helping one another for personal and national development.

The organisation’s Chief Imam, Fuad Adeyemi, made the call during a special dua (prayer) to mark AIS’s 22nd anniversary which was held on Sunday in Guzape, Abuja.

According to Adeyemi, the history of Al-Habibiyah mosque complex and permanent site is a testament to what individuals and collective efforts can achieve.

He said while the members moved to the site in October 2010, the first Juma’at (Friday) prayer was observed in December of that year. He stated that over N1.8 billion had been spent on the mosque building so far.

“Today is a day of gratitude and appreciation to Almighty Allah. We cannot thank Allah enough for what He has done for us. We thank Him for the mercy that we did not deserve, the mercy that we did not work for, the mercy that we did not merit and the mercy that we are not worthy of. As I have always said, Al-Habibiyah is not just an organisation, it is a movement.

“An individual encouraged us to come here. When we were reluctant, he erected a tent, bought kettles, provided water and mats and other forms of encouragement. There are individuals who remain anonymous till date that donated money or volunteered to execute some of the aspects of the mosque, including the dome, pillars, doors, public address system, among others. We should pray for our country and our leaders at all times, for our organisations, places of work and ourselves,” Adeyemi said.

Pioneer president of the organisation, Ambassador Ridwan Adebayo, said the development of the mosque manifested the greatness of Allah as members, on their own way, could not have been able to provide the huge resources needed to finance the project.

The former envoy said although the organisation was rejected at the initial stage, the members were not deterred as they continued to propagate Islam in every nook and cranny of the Federal Capital Territory and Nigeria as a whole.

“We were rejected when we started but we want to thank Almighty Allah for where He has taken us to.

“Our rise can be compared to the advent of Islam. We were persecuted, rejected and harassed. It is a special moment (the anniversary) for us and it is a remarkable day,” the former envoy stated.
