Hon. Martins Esin, a member representing Oron/Mbo/Okobo/Udung Uko/Urueoffong Oruko Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State, has been appointed as the Chairman of the standing committee on Youth Development in the 10th House of Representatives.
The appointment was made by the House Speaker, Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbas PhD, during a recent plenary session where he announced the composition of chairmanship positions of standing committees.
Speaker Abbas emphasized that the selection process for committee chairmanship positions was guided by the capacity, experience, knowledge, and competence of individual lawmakers.
Prior to his current appointment, Hon. Martins Esin served in the special (ad-hoc) committee on Rules and Business, which was constituted shortly after the inauguration of the 10th Assembly in June 2023.
As the new chairman of the Youth Development Committee, Hon. Martins Esin brings with him a wealth of experience as a versatile entrepreneur and politician. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and an MBA in Marketing from Madonna University, Okija, and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, respectively.
Before being elected as a parliamentarian in the last general election, Esin played an active role in the private sector and held the position of Key Accounts Manager in charge of Dangote Cement’s top distributors nationwide.
Following the announcement of the committee chairmanship positions, the House proceeded on a recess, adjourning legislative activities until September 2023.
