‘Akoko’ to premiere on December 8

IN preparation for its official release, ‘Akoko’, a new thrilling Yoruba movie with English subtitles is slated to premiere on December 8, 2023.

The movie, produced by Rayan Media Limited, a content production, marketing and distribution company, in conjunction with Esther Kalejaiye Productions, was directed by Seun Olaiya and will be distributed by VIVA Film Distributions.

Speaking about the movie, the Project Coordinator for Rayan Media, Mrs Motolani Tella-Arowolo, said the movie is for lovers of Yoruba movies and those who appreciate great storytelling.

“We are excited to bring ‘Akoko’ to audiences nationwide. The movie is a testament to the talent that exists in the Yoruba movie industry, and we are proud to showcase that to the world. We believe the movie will resonate with audiences and leave a lasting impression.
“’Akoko’ (Season) will be showing in Viva Cinemas, Film World Cinema, Sky Cinema, OOPL Cinemas and other cinemas across the South West states,” Tella-Arowolo said.

She added: “Akoko is a film filled with inspiration. It explores the theme ‘not all that glitters is gold’.

“The movie tells the story of a young, promising lady who is determined to make it to the top. She is given the chance to change her fortune, but fate has a bigger test in store for her. She navigates the challenges that come with her newfound success and realises how far people would go just to be validated.

“The movie boasts a talented cast and crew such as Biola Bayo, Ronke Odusanya, Jide Awobona, Binta Ayo-Mogaji, Jumoke George, Afeez Eniola, Esther Kalejaiye and Kolawole Ajeyemi.
