Akoko Edo PDP leaders pledge support for Ighodalo

The governorship bid of Asuen Ighodalo, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the September 22, 2014, governorship election in Edo State, received a boost over the weekend as leaders and members of the party in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the state met in Igarra, headquarters of the local government area, where they unanimously pledged to work and ensure victory for the party in the governorship election.

Addressing the party faithful, the convener of the meeting, which attracted members from the 10 wards in the local government area and a chieftain of the party, Abiodun Johnson, popularly called Abifa, commended the unity of purpose among the members of the party in the local government area.

This was just as he lauded the support the running mate to the governorship candidate of the party, Osarodion Ogie, was giving to the candidate, Asuen Ighodalo, describing the team as a “perfect match guaranteed of victory on election day.”

Abiodun also expressed confidence that the PDP in the state would resolve all its crises in a short time and approach the election as one.

“This is the time the party needs to work together as a family to win the next election and ensure that the PDP remains in the state, and I believe this will be achieved.

“We have a very good team. Our candidate is pairing with a good man who has been of immense help to people in the three senatorial districts, including me. That is a team that will take Edo State to a level of reference by others in terms of development; so all hands must be on deck to make sure this is done,” Abiodun canvassed.

The Chairman in the Council, Tajudeen Alade, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the convener of the meeting and enumerated all projects completed so far and ongoing ones by his administration, which he said were already materials for campaigns once the embargo on campaigns is lifted.

Also speaking, another PDP leader in the locality, Mrs. Balogun, expressed gratitude to Governor Godwin Obaseki for considering Akoko-Edo worthy of the office of deputy governor of the state, which, according to her, had put an end to the age-long cry of marginalisation.

Among the PDP leaders who attended the event were the Executive Chairman of Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, Hon Tajudeen Alade; Mrs. P.O Balogun, Special Adviser to the Governor of Edo State; Solomon Taiwo, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor; Mrs. Bose Ashipa, Fatai Maliki, PDP Ward Chairmen, among others.
