Akinlade, three others defect from APC

MEMBER of the House of Representatives, Hon Abdulkabir Adekunle Akinlade, who represents Egado South and Ipokia federal constituency of Ogun State on Thursday finally dumped the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to another party.

Akinlade who was the preferred governorship candidate of the Ogun State governor, Senator lbikunle Amosun, has defected to Allied Peoples Movement (APM).

Others who defected with Akinlade are Hon Rabiu Kaugama (Jigawa), Hon Mohammed Ajanah, Kogi and Hon Salisu Koko from Kebbi State.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon Yakubu Dogara read their letters of defections during the plenary.

However, Hon Kaugama moved from the PDP to SDP, Ajanah moved from APC to PDP while Koko moved from APC to SDP.

The Speaker while reading their letters of defection blamed their resignation from their various party on the controversies that marred the recent primaries.

The defectors noted that the injustice melted on them and their supporters during their primary elections was against the constitution of the country and that of their various parties.

They disclosed that after due consultations with their families, constituents and their supporters, it was time for them to part ways with the APC.

The leader of the house, however, said that Speaker Dogara is still a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC) because he has not officially communicated to the house that he has joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
