Akinfenwa installs Olawuyi as Canon, ordain 13 others as priests

Bishop Of Ibadan Diocese, Anglican Communion Right Reverend (Dr) Joseph Akinfenwa, on July8, 2018 installed Olanrewaju Israel Alawuyi as Reverend Canon and ordained 13 others as priests at St James The Great, Oke-Bola, Ibadan, Oyo State, with a charge to embark on radical evangelism across the world to win more souls for Christ.

Akinfenwa urged them to love and serve the people wholly and declare God’s forgiveness to sinners as well as pronounce God’s blessings.

The bishop also urged them to proclaim the word of God and fashion their lifestyle according to the principles of Christ, strengthen the faith, search for the careless and the indifference.

He called for God’s intervention to bring leaders to the right part, adding that the current situation in Nigeria is worrisome.

“Have mercy on Nigeria. Do not bring judgment on the nation. God have mercy on our land. Bring to an end killings in our land,” he said.

Earlier, in his sermon, the Chaplain, chapel of Peace and Joy, Lead City University, Ibadan, Venerable O.O. Olagundoye, had said the church had a critical role to play in reshaping the nation, adding that the masses were suffering.

He urged the new priest to provide appropriate and adequate ministerial standard in their various churches, as well as pray fervently for to be able to perform their duty .

“God, who delivers the Israelites from the hands of Pharaoh, will deliver Nigerians from the current situation.” he stated.

God, who deliver David from the hands of Goliath, will deliver Nigeria from it current crisis,” he said.

 

Those ordained as priests on the occasion include: Adebose Timothy; Ojewumi Samson Babatunde; Assah Dadja phillip; Aderinnoye Peter Opeyemi; Iyiola Oluwafisayo; Adeyemi Abiodun and Akinloye Tunde.
