Akeredolu’s death, monumental loss to South West, Nigeria — Ondo Amotekun

The Ondo State Commander of the South West Security Network, Amotekun, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, described the passing of the state’s governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, as shocking and monumental on Sunday.

Adeleye, who also serves as the Special Adviser to the Ondo State Governor on Security Matters, conveyed this sentiment in a personally signed statement. He stated that Akeredolu’s death is a significant loss to the South West region and Nigeria as a whole.

The Amotekun Commander expressed that Akeredolu left at a time when the state and the country needed him the most, emphasizing the importance of joining hands with other leaders to rebuild the nation.

“We received the news of his death on Wednesday, the 27th of December, with rude shock, and I describe his demise as shocking and monumental,” said Adeleye. “He is a man of unequal integrity, a dogged fighter for justice, and a beacon of courage who fought hard to ensure that the people of the state and the entire South West are secure through the formation of the Amotekun Corps.

“The late Akeredolu proved to be a special being who has written his name in gold as a man who rallied around his people in the face of adversity. A fearless and courageous fighter, a God-fearing statesman, and an advocate for democratic principles who left when he was needed most.

“His passion for the infrastructural and industrial development of the Sunshine State, which has started yielding fruitful results, are legacies that will remain evergreen in the history of the state.

“In this moment of grief, my family and I commiserate with the Akeredolu family, the people and government of Ondo State, as well as the entire Owo kingdom over the demise of our illustrious son, a fantastic role model. I pray that God rests his soul in peace.”
